ASTHO’s Board of Directors provides administrative oversight and sets the strategic direction for the organization. The board meets quarterly to accomplish this work. Full details about each member can be found in the Board of Directors page.
ASTHO’s Executive Committee is comprised of five officers that conduct business between board meetings to ensure continuity of operations and fulfill fiduciary responsibilities of the association.
ASTHO’s Assembly of Members, composed of the entire membership of ASTHO, is the organization’s policy-making body. This includes all 59 chief health officials from each of the 50 states, Washington, D.C., U.S. territories, and Freely Associated States. ASTHO's members are integral to our policy statement development process through policy committee service and participation in member voting. The Assembly of Members traditionally meets once a year during the ASTHO Annual Meeting to receive annual reports from the president, CEO, and treasurer.
Finally, ASTHO is guided by a set of bylaws that are reviewed and adopted, as needed, by the Assembly of Members. Our bylaws outline the organization’s purpose, requirements for membership, and collaborative bodies with which ASTHO participates. In addition, the bylaws prescribe ASTHO’s standing and advisory committees and provide general policies regarding the operation of the Association.
