September 22, 2021
ARLINGTON, VA—Today, the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO) announced the launch of Public Health Review Morning Edition, a daily on-demand newscast that covers the latest trends, news, and breakthroughs in public health throughout the states and territories. A new episode is posted every weekday morning at 7:00 a.m. ET on all major streaming audio platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music, and Alexa.
In about five minutes, each report highlights ongoing developments in public health. Listeners learn about upcoming ASTHO events, research, and products, and hear from ASTHO leaders about projects and initiatives intended to help public health professionals.
“Our nation is dealing with multiple public health crises: the pandemic, natural disasters, and so much more. We’ve developed an incredible suite of resources, research, and expert advice to share with our colleagues across the public health field tackling these challenges. Now, we can deliver information about these tools to them each morning as they prepare to start their day,” says Michael Fraser, ASTHO’s chief executive officer.
ASTHO also welcomes policy makers, the public, or anyone interested in public health to tune into Public Health Review Morning Edition to learn about what is top of mind for public health leaders.
Each episode features a “morning conversation” with an ASTHO member, researcher, or policy specialist. Guests on early episodes of the report include Nirav Shah, MD, ASTHO president and director of the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and Thomas Dobbs, MD, state health officer for the Mississippi State Department of Health. Featured interviews address the day’s most pressing public health concerns, such as vaccine acceptance, emergency preparedness, and school safety.
Public Health Review Morning Edition joins the ranks of ASTHO’s award winning longform podcast, Public Health Review. Both are available at no charge for mobile download and streaming on the ASTHO website and all major streaming audio platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts and on smart speakers, like Alexa and Google Assistant.
